Seasonal employment opportunities

Would you like to be part of one of New Zealand's best equipped pack houses? A place where you can enjoy your work, and be fairly rewarded for it.

From mid-February to June each year, we employ around 80 seasonal workers. If you'd like to be one of them, please contact Peter Willis our HR Manager.

We have a New Zealanders-first employment policy, but about two-thirds of our workforce come from overseas, many of them from the Pacific, particularly the Solomon Islands. The remainder come from Asia, South America and Germany.

A great working environment

Our orientation day can sometimes feel a bit like a school reunion, as friends from the previous season see each other again. We're a relatively small team for a large pack house, so people quickly get to know each other and make friends.

Automation has removed much of the hard physical work, with a robot arm lifting and stacking packed cases onto pallets. Most of the tedious sorting and grading is now done automatically, leaving workers free to concentrate on making each tray of apples as attractive as possible.

See the real New Zealand

If you are thinking about seasonal employment in New Zealand, imagine being on a night shift at the Longview pack house, listening to Solomon Island women singing as they work. Living and working in Hawke's Bay, you'll have the opportunity to look beyond the tourist brochures and learn about the real New Zealand, the role it plays in the Pacific community, and the rural industries that have earned it its place in the world.
